The Framingham Housing Authority strives to provide, safe, sanitary and secure housing for extremely low to moderate-income families while promoting and encouraging economic self-sufficiency and creating a welcoming environment for residents to live. For the Love of K Gardens has installed 15 garden boxes with irrigation, provided soil and plantings to start the residents on their journey to learn and grow their own food.
We are working to spread the “grow your own food” movement. We want to focus on sustainable growing methods, recycling, waste minimization and nutrition education. It has been shown that kids (and likely many adults) are more likely to eat their own vegetables if they grow them and take ownership in them.
